Government’s economic packages to be reviewed ‘over the coming months’

Treasurer Josh Frydernberg has told Sky News all the wage subsidy and stimulus programs implemented by the government will be reviewed "over the coming months" as the nation recovers quicker than expected.
JobKeeper payments will this week begin to flow to the more than 725,000 businesses who have registered, while around five million workers will benefit.
As the National Cabinet is most likely to lift various lockdown restrictions on Friday due to the sustained flattening of the curve, many have called for the government's stimulus measures to be wound back.
The treasurer said Prime Minister Scott Morrison "prepared the nation for a six-month long haul," but the country has been "more successful than we first thought".
Mr Frydenberg told Sky News hosts Graham Richardson and Chris Smith, JobKeeper for example has a "review after three months" although it is legislated for six months given that "some industries will recover more quickly than others".
He said the government has "no plans to change" the GST, and is not going to increase taxes or cut services to assist the economic recovery.
The way to grow the economy is through investing in infrastructure, deregulation, cutting red tape, and "obviously tax reform" the treasurer said.
