The painting by Nelson Makamo is featured on TIME magazine's "optimists issue." 






NEW YORK - A beautiful oil painting of a child wearing red circular glasses by Nelson Makamo is featured on the cover of TIME magazine.

The portrait, titled Visions of a limitless future, was revealed on Thursday by the magazine as part of the second "optimists issue."

In a post on Instagram TIME said the issue was meant to inspire people through the work of artists across various fields.

"Whether a filmmaker or a photographer, an author or an actress, a poet or a painter, these pages are filled with people who use art as a weapon for dynamic optimism", read the caption.

Makamo is a Johannesburg based artist who was born in Limpopo and his work has been featured in various locations around the world.
