WASHINGTON - Michelle Obama has taken the number one spot as America's most admired woman, unseating Hillary Clinton, who held the spot for 17 years.

In second place is Oprah Winfrey with 5% of the votes and Clinton rounds off the top three with 4%, according to Gallup's annual poll.

Mrs Obama claims the title alongside her husband, Barack Obama, who has been America's most admired man for the past 11 years.

The poll has been carried out every year since 1946, with the exception of 1976.

3. Hillary Clinton (4%)

4. Melania Trump (4%)

5. Queen Elizabeth II (2%)

Most Admired Man

1. Barack Obama (19%)

4. Pope Francis (2%)

5. Bill Gates (1%)

Gallup's annual survey, asks Americans, to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world today whom they admire most.
