Who is popular today?

The Governors Ball is set to kick off on Friday for three days jam-packed with an eclectic lineup of artists. While headliners Jack White, Travis Scott and Eminem will surely bring out the crowds to Randalls Island, plenty of attention is owed to the other acts rounding out the lineup. Here are just a few of the artists we're looking forward to this weekend.

Pusha T

Sometimes an unfortunate situation turns into a positive thing. Bronx-born rapper Pusha T was announced Tuesday as a replacement for hip hop boy band Brockhampton after core member Ameer Vann was kicked out of the group amid harassment allegations. The crew canceled the rest of their tour just after Pusha T released his great new album, "Daytona," produced by Kanye West. Pusha T is saving the day just as he's making headlines for his diss track against Drake, which he promoted by recirculating a photo of the Canadian pop singer wearing blackface in a 2008 photoshoot. Maybe the Governors Ball crowd will get to hear the track live on Saturday — or perhaps this highly publicized beef will figure into the show some other way.

James Blake

After initially hiding his name in the lineup, Governors Ball announced James Blake as the surprise guest for the 2018 edition. The English musician smoothly blends piano with electronic beats for a captivating sound. Blake's set is a great option to close out the festival's first day, and serves as an alternative to Jack White's headlining show.

Maggie Rogers

This NYU alum skyrocketed into the spotlight after a video of Pharrell Williams reacting to her song "Alaska" at the school's Clive Davis Institute went viral. Two years later, she's performing at the same festival as the Masterclass teacher, who will take the stage a couple days after her with N.E.R.D. The singer-songwriter's striking folk music is a great fit for a mid-afternoon set on Friday.

Kali Uchis

Barely two months after the release of her excellent debut album "Isolation," Kali Uchis will bring her funky brand of pop music to the stage on the festival's final day. The Colombian-American singer-songwriter's piercingly soulful voice is reason enough to catch her live. There's no doubt she'll bring the energy with her upbeat selections tinged with Latin flair.

Vic Mensa

Known for his no-nonsense, candid lyrics, the Chicago-born rapper is bound to have people talking. He proved no topic is off limits and no rap style is too far-fetched to master with his debut “The Autobiography,” where he opened up about his mental health, cheating and his rise to fame. From dipping into the world of electronic rap to dominating the traditional style of the genre, Vic Mensa is sure to show off his wide-ranging talent Sunday evening.
