Freshford councillor Michael McCarthy was officially confirmed as the third candidate elected for the Castlecomer LEA this evening at Lyrath Count Centre in Kilkenny. The Fianna Fail councillor received an impressive 1,489 first preference votes, and after Count 1 was just 17 votes shy of the quota.
