Jullian Assange appeals in UK courts to fight extradition

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Julian Assange has appealed in the UK courts this week to fight his extradition to the United States to face charges connected with the management of Wikileaks.

Mr Clennell says the Australian government voted with a motion to bring Julian Assange home.

“A final decision is now expected next month,” he said.

“My understanding is that what the government has been working on, and Julian Assange’s lawyers have been working on, is a plea deal with the US Department of Justice.

“Which would see Assange able to serve a custodial term here in Australia.”
