Republicans are calling for a resolution to end the primaries and declare Donald Trump their presidential nominee after his victories in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The plan was quickly withdrawn after the former president weighed in.
Republican candidate Nikki Hayley has vowed to continue her presidential bid despite Donald Trump defeating her at the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries.
As it stands Trump is still required to win 1,215 delegates to officially become the presumptive nominee.
The Republican National Committee Winter Meeting will take place in Las Vegas next week, where chairwoman Ronna McDaniel will seek to unite committee members.
