Joey Barton slammed by Bianca Westwood for ‘misogynistic’ tweet

about 2 years in news

Former Sky Sports presenter Bianca Westwood has hit back at Joey Barton for saying women shouldn’t talk about a men’s game.

The former presenter - who had to work behind the scenes for ten years before being awarded the same opportunities as her male colleagues - said the first game she reported on at West Ham happened before the former Premier League footballer was “even born.”

“My first game at West Ham was before Joey Barton was even born,” Ms Westwood told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“I worked behind the scenes at Sky for ten years before I was even given a shot on camera, watching many of my male colleagues, who were probably not always as good as I was, getting chances that I was never given.

“It sounds to me like Joey’s got a problem with particular female pundits, who, to his knowledge, haven’t done enough in the game, but how does he know.”

Mr Barton claimed women "shouldn't be talking with any kind of authority" on men's football in a tweet that has since stirred up controversy in the football community.
