Labor accused of prioritising AUKUS over recommendations designed to close the gender pay gap

Sky News host Sharri Markson says Labor is being accused of prioritising submarines over women after it refused to commit to recommendations by the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce.

Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce released a report on Monday which recommended changes designed to close the gender pay gap, including the addition of superannuation to paid parental leave.

“This is Katy Gallagher; she is the finance minister, she is also the women’s minister; she has been under fire for her refusal to commit the government to recommendations from the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce,” Ms Sharri said.

“This includes paying super on paid parental leave, also abolishing the childcare subsidy activity test.

“She’s not upsetting the women’s groups here.”
