Former Labor advisor Darrin Barnett says discussions about AUKUS, the Middle East, Ukraine and China will “dominate conversation” between Anthony Albanese and US President Joe Biden.

Mr Barnett told Sky News Australia that it is a “very complex visit”.

“There’s a big delicate balancing act here for the Prime Minister.

“For the Prime Minister it’s a good opportunity to once again assert himself on the international stage.

“I think since coming to power, Richard Marles, Penny Wong, Anthony Albanese have done a very, very good job and have formed some strong alliances internationally and this is another opportunity for that to shine through.”
