New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, who was in Jerusalem on Saturday, described having to shelter in a hotel as the Hamas attacks unfolded. Booker was in Israel because he was scheduled to speak at an economic forum in Tel Aviv, but left the country on Sunday, October 8, after Hamas’s attacks. In a video published on Booker’s X profile on Sunday, October 8, he described his experience of having to shelter in a hotel in Jerusalem during the attacks. “There was a sense of fear and worry and a knowledge to many of us that there were horrific things going on around the country at that time,” he said. So far, at least 576 people have been killed in Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Monday. At least 700 Israelis were killed in Hamas’s attack, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
