‘Big whack for farmers’ Cattle prices slump to nine year low

9 months in news

Australian cattle prices have slumped to a nine-year low.

According to Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood, the drop in cost is a direct result of unseasonably warm weather across the country.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator has collapsed 66 per cent in the past year.

“From around $1865 a head to $1631 in the latest sales,” Mr Greenwood said.

“That drop, $1200 a head is a big whack for farmers.”
