King Charles III has become the first British Monarch to address the French Senate in Paris on a day which marks a very important anniversary.

He told the chamber the United Kingdom will always be one of France's closest allies and best friends.

The Senate address was delivered on France’s 232nd anniversary of declaring themselves as a Republic.

King Charles III carried a message about his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, saying the tapestry of English and French connection would forever have her golden thread.

The 18-minute address concluded with a standing ovation from the Senate to King Charles III.
