Tribe’s 6 bands rise with Sunset WKN

11 months in TT News day

Carnival band Tribe hosted its second of three Sunset WKN events last Saturday at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The band’s Rainforest theme for 2024 decorated the venue, as die-hard Tribe revellers were welcomed with fog machines, trees and gorillas at the entrance.

The much anticipated presentation of costumes began with a video presentation which included legendary masman Peter Minshall. A spoken word performance by actor/musician Nikolai Salgado under a huge tree, which was placed in front of the eight feet high stage followed. “Wherever people meet there is a Tribe,” he said, which spoke to the ability of humans to find similarities amongst themselves wherever they are. Since Tribe launched in 2004 several changes have occurred. The most noticeable is the joint venture with other mas bands.
