In a shock decision, the Australia state of Victoria will not host the 2026 Commonwealth Games due to projected cost overruns, leaving the future of the sporting event hanging in the balance. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the costs were getting out of control. The games between former British colonies have only been cancelled once since they began in 1930.
