Police dominate North Zone cricket awards

POLICE Sports Club’s treble-winning season saw them nab the lion’s share of prizes at the TT Cricket Board North Zone Cricket Council awards held recently.
The lawmen’s Brandon Ramdial and Justin Joseph were named among the zone’s top five cricketers of the year, following their team’s capture of the league, 40-Over and T20 titles. Ramdial’s stellar showing also saw him cop the Player of the Year award.
Savannah Boys’ Pradeep Ali, Combine All Stars’ Earnil Ryan and Barataria Ball Players’ Carl Vialva delivered outstanding performances and were also named among the top five.
League runners-up Barataria Ball Players had their star player Carl Vialva named MVP. He also tied with Police’s Joseph for most wickets (33 each) in this division.
Ramdial scored the most league runs (620) which was made up of an unbeaten double-century (219 not out), 122 and 115. Santa Cruz Sports Association also placed third in the league.
In the T20, Police captain Dejorn Charles was named MVP. He scored the most runs (336)and was the only player to score two centuries (120 not out, 109). Three players - Damien Brown (Police), Miguel Mahabir (Invincible Cricket Club) and Pradeep Ali (Savannah Boys)- tied for most wickets (nine).
In the 40-Over tournament, semi-finalists North Coast United’s Kendall Guerra won the MVP award. He finished with the most runs (215) and was the only player to score a century (115).
Runners-up Barataria Ball Players claimed the most wickets (14) courtesy Derron Wilson.
And in division one, which was won by Invincible, Combine All Stars’ Earnil Ryan was named MVP. He scored the category’s most runs (406)and captured a ten-wicket haul against St Mary’s College.
Invincible’s Ramesh Dhanraj copped most wickets (23).
