over 2 years in Mirror

Baku is back, and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix sparks the return of the new Sprint format to bring more risks alongside the traditional Grand Prix; and bet365 have both formats covered on multiple markets and additional boosted odds! Fernando Alonso is yet to claim a win this season so far but, after three straight podium finishes, could make ground on Sergio Perez in second, and has been boosted from 7/2 to 4/1 with bet365 to win the Formula One Drivers Championship outright – without Max Verstappen. His team at Aston Martin have also had a solid start to the season as they sit second in the Constructors Championship. Alonso, alongside sixth-place teammate Lance Stroll, could well maintain their solid start and see Aston Martin win the Formula One Constructors Championship outright – without Red Bull; boosted from 6/5 to 13/10! There are still 20 races to go with plenty of dramatic twists and turns to endure before the final chequered flag is waved. For now, all eyes look to the streets of Baku and what it brings in both Grand Prix and Sprint formats. After the introduction of the Sprint format back in 2021, Formula 1 is bringing more condensed intensity and risk to a full weekend of racing action. 2023’s F1 Sprint has now become its own standalone occasion on Saturday, with Practice Two being removed from the weekend’s schedule, leaving just one of the usual three practice sessions to get up to scratch for the weekend ahead. The ‘Sprint Shootout’ follows a similar set up to your traditional qualifying which will now consist of three smaller sessions; Q1 (12 minutes), Q2 (10 minutes) and Q3 (8 minutes). It will also see teams stripped of their free choice of tyre. Q1 and Q2 will dictate a compulsory use of the ‘medium’ tyre whilst the ‘soft’ tyre, the usual qualifying choice, will be the tyre requirement for Q3 which will then set the order for the F1 Sprint grid.
