Aid volunteers surveyed destroyed buildings in southern Turkey on Monday, February 13, after powerful earthquakes devastated the region on February 6. Footage captured by Yusuf Balkaya shows destroyed buildings in the center of Kahramanmaras on Monday evening. Balkaya told Storyful he was part of the Hope Caravan Foundation team sent to deliver humanitarian aid to the area. According to local officials on Monday, over 760 cleanup personnel were on the streets of the town to help recovery efforts. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited earthquake survivors evacuated to Istanbul, local media reported. By Monday morning, Turkish disaster management agency AFAD reported a death toll of 31,643 in Turkey, and the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Syria’s death toll had risen to 5,300, bringing the total death toll past 36,000.
