Australia will face ‘enormous task’ of stopping the boats again

Australia will face an “enormous task” to stop boats carrying illegal immigrants after the elimination of Temporary Protection Visas, according to former immigration and citizenship minister Kevin Andrews.

“This is not a humanitarian policy, it’s a policy which is surely going to lead, once people smugglers get back into operation, to deaths at sea as it did in the past,” Mr Andrews told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“They should be doing what is needed to protect the borders of Australia.”
