Bashar al Assad Visits Algerian Rescue Team in Aleppo

Syrian president Bashar al-Assad visited Algerian rescue workers in Aleppo following the deadly February 6 earthquakes that affected the area, images posted by Algerian Civil Protection on Friday, February 10, showed. Al-Arabiya reported that Al-Assad had visited a hospital in the city in his first trip to the earthquake-hit area on Friday. Algerian Civil Protection rescuers previously posted footage showing them extracting victims in body bags from the rubble of collapsed buildings in Aleppo. In an update from February 9, the organization said they had found one person alive and recovered 31 bodies. On Friday, the combined Turkish and Syrian death toll from the quakes neared 23,000.
