Sky News New Zealand Bureau Chief Jessica Maggio says members of the New Zealand Parliament are looking to nominate only one replacement for outgoing Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, so they can “avoid voting”.

“We know that the Deputy Prime Minister has already said he won’t put his hand up,” Ms Maggio told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.

“There are two other people that still have suitability for the role and are likely to carry it through to the end of the year.

“They are Chris Hipkins and Michael Wood.”
