Rich Insight Economist Chris Richardson says the budget will be helped by commodity prices, with a surplus this year being “very likely”.

“You couldn’t rule out a surplus this financial year,” Mr Richardson told Sky News Australia.

“That’s the essence of the forecast that I’ve got, rather better than Treasury but perhaps not an ongoing surplus.”
