People have been looting ‘batteries and fuel’ as flood waters rise in Murray River

about 3 years in news

Renmark Paringa Council Mayor Peter Hunter says people have been taking “batteries and fuel” from some of the heavy machinery on the banks of the Murray River as flood waters rise.

“There are people out there helping each other to remove items from their house to get free – there’s a balance there,” Mr Hunter said.

“Wouldn’t want to focus too much on that negative side of it, but yeah, I wouldn’t doubt there’s that element in some spots but not to a wide degree that I’m aware of.”
