Push for Australian crew to board US submarines for ‘training’

The Australian’s Cameron Stewart says the government would be supportive of putting Australian crew members on US submarine fleets for “training” before Australia receives a nuclear fleet.

“Australia hasn’t got crews that are trained for nuclear-powered submarines, of course, we don’t have any nuclear-powered submarines,” Mr Stewart said.

“It’s going to take quite a long time to get those crews through the pipeline.”
