Former DFAT Australia-China Council scholar Andrew Phelan says President Joe Biden has confirmed America would have a military response if China made an attack on Taiwan, which is being discussed at the ASEAN summit in Cambodia.

“It’s going to be fascinating to see how that plays out, there were a few Latin American countries fringing the Pacific in APEC, but Columbia wasn’t one of them,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“So, I hope Joe Biden is on the ball in that meeting.”
