‘Government has not handled this well’ Repatriated ISIS brides

PR Counsel Managing Director Kristy McSweeney says the government's handling of the repatriated ISIS brides back into Australia is a “clear example of how Labor lost the seat of Fowler”.

“They took the community for granted. Labor often takes multicultural communities for granted, they think they’re locked in but we’re seeing a conservative side to many multicultural communities and Labor knows that,” Ms McSweeney told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“And we’re also seeing multicultural communities wrap themselves around people that they think are really good advocates for them and their interests as multicultural Australians.

“I cannot fault Dai Lee since she put a foot in parliament. I think she’s a fantastic example of someone who represents the concerns of her community.

"And no wonder lost that seat in a heartbeat when the community is saying ‘you didn’t listen to us’ and here they are not listening to that community again around the concerns.”
