FORMER TRINIDAD and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) president Brian Lewis has called on those responsible for breaking into Olympic House and stealing its computer server, to return the crucial piece of hardware for the sake of the nation’s athletes.
Olympic House, located 121 Abercromby Street, Port of Spain was robbed on Thursday night of its computer server along with national uniforms and athletic wear.
Lewis, who is also Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) president, said the information stored on the server is crucial for running the TTOC’s daily operations.
“The perpetrator or perpetrators who busted a hole in the wall of Olympic House, can you not examine your conscious and return what you have stolen?
“The TTOC is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing opportunity for youth and young people to achieve their Olympic dreams. Have a heart!” he said.
Lewis confirmed the missing server is a major setback for the TTOC and will directly affect TT athletes.
“When you steal and inconvenience and set back the TTOC you are negatively impacting TT athletes, youth and young people who bring so much pride and joy to TT. Have a heart and conscience return the stole items,” he pleaded.
TTOC president Diane Henderson said she believes the server was stolen to be sold as scrap metal. She said several external items such as a water pump and iron fittings, among others, were stolen from the exterior of the building, over the past three months.
Henderson also called on those involved in the robbery to return the server since the information on it is useless to those currently in possession of it, but critical for the TTOC’s daily operations on athletes, upcoming events, welfare and support.
