VALRICO — Three years, four months and 23 days. "It's been a long journey and Katie's come a long way," said Kathy Powers, as she stood in her driveway and looked out among dozens of flag-waving friends and neighbors from the Lithia Ridge community who had gathered to welcome home her daughter, 29-year-old Katie Thomas, from the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa.
