Australia’s energy trajectory ‘expensive and dangerous’

over 1 year in news

Sky News host Chris Smith says the energy security trajectory Australia is on is “both dangerous and expensive”.

“Dangerous, because the more we turn off our baseload power supplies, coal and gas, the more fragile the grid becomes,” he said.

“And expensive, because as well as building a myriad of wind turbines and solar farms, almost the entire national infrastructure has to be rebuilt, to enable that power to feed into the grid.”

Mr Smith said energy was a “heavily subsidised industry” with quickly developing projects such as the solar farm in the New South Wales Riverina district.
