Ukrainian civilians urged to evacuate Donetsk region as winter approaches

almost 2 years in news

Ukraine MP Inna Sovsun says President Volodymyr Zelensky is urging civilians in the Donetsk region to evacuate amid fears of further Russian attacks and the approaching winter months.

“In two and a half months, winter will come here and it will be cold – and the infrastructure over there is completely destroyed,” she told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“So the major argument that the President is laying out to those who are still in those cities is that we will not be able to heat your housing because the infrastructure is completely devastated.

“They were targeting it specifically … to make this land uninhabitable.

“They succeeded so far because now we have to move people out of there.”
