‘Cancel culture on steroids’ Calls to ban fossil fuel advertising

Sky News host Chris Kenny says there is a push to “cancel” mining companies and ban them from advertising following the launch of commodity company Glencore’s national advertising campaign.

“This is cancel culture at play, and in this case, I reckon it is cancel culture on steroids,” he said.

Mr Kenny’s comments follow a push from climate advocacy group Comms Declare to ban marketing from companies who contribute to the growth of fossil fuel emissions, in a move similar to the prohibition of tobacco advertising in Australia, according to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald.
