Sky News host Chris Smith says Foreign Minister Penny Wong has “outlined quite possibly her biggest challenge in her new role”.

Mr Smith said Ms Wong would be “standing up to China on the world stage” after being shut out by the global superpower.

"But Penny Wong, who has now arrived in Bali for the G20 summit, and will have a meeting with China's Foreign Minister tonight, is taking quite an inspired approach, to mending our relationship with Beijing,” he said.

“She won’t be asking China to apologise for the way they’ve turned their backs on us, she won’t be asking them to repay the billions of dollars Australian industries lost … and, rightly, she says she won’t be sucking up either.”
