Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison says new Liberal Leader Peter Dutton and new Deputy Leader Sussan Ley are an “enormously experienced team”.

“I was very pleased that they served in my cabinet, they did outstanding jobs,” he said.

“They are incredibly experienced, well-versed, deeply, deeply committed Australians to both the Liberal cause and of course the cause of the nation.”

Mr Morrison said he would give them his “full support” as a backbencher.
