Sky News contributor Caleb Bond says he “respects the honour” of outgoing treasurer Josh Frydenberg after it was revealed he was urged to challenge former prime minister Scott Morrison in September last year.

Liberal MPs who feared their government was on a path to electoral oblivion urged Mr Frydenberg to challenge Mr Morrison in September last year but were unable to convince the former treasurer to turn against his leader, according to The Age.

“Loyalty is a quality that should be appreciated, loyalty is a virtue,” Mr Bond told Sky News host Jenna Clarke.
