Election was a ‘thunderous spanking’ for the major parties

Last night’s election was a “thunderous spanking of Australia's major parties” according to Sky News host Chris Smith.
The Liberals have lost at least 15 seats in this election, with the party losing its blue-ribbon inner-city heartland in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
While Labor will form government, it is not certain it will secure a majority on the floor of parliament, with many voters turning to independents or the Greens instead of the ALP.
“It's been a thunderous spanking of Australia's major parties. And an outcome that clearly puts the religion of climate change, at the forefront of government,” he said.
"At a time when Australia needs massive new spending commitments on climate like a large hole in the head, this does not augur well, for our economy, and our ability to afford what Australia has long taken for granted.”
