International Development and the Pacific Minister Zed Seselja says the Chinese government “does not play by the same rules as the Australian government”.

“That is one of the great challenges we face strategically,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

He said the Chinese government’s engagement in the Solomon Islands “hasn’t always been to the standards that we would expect".

“And the transparency and the accountability that we have, over the very significant contribution we make to the region.”
