Labor’s ‘ongoing bullying tactic’ Jason Clare pokes fun at Liberal Senator’s name

about 2 years in news

Labor MP Jason Clare mocking Pacific Minister Zed Seselja's name seems to be part of an ongoing "bullying" and "demeaning" tactic employed by the Labor Party, says Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes.

Mr Clare poked fun at Mr Seselja's first name at a media conference while criticising the government on national security amid China's security deal with the Solomon Islands.

Mr Seselja, the Minister for International Development and the Pacific, travelled to Honiara in an attempt to smooth over Australia's relationship with the Pacific nation two weeks ago.

"Who's Zed? is this Pulp Fiction or national security?," Mr Clare said on Tuesday.

"We've seen today Jason Clare make fun of Zed Seselja's name," Ms Hughes told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

"Zed is a very proud man of Croatian history.

"It seems to be an ongoing bullying tactic – a demeaning tactic that the Labor Party use."
