LNP Senator James McGrath says the late Labor Senator Kimberley Kitching always “did what is right for Australia”.

It comes after Ms Kitching died suddenly on Thursday from a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.

“She went against her party on terms of some issues – she led her party – and that’s what we should respect her for, that strength of character,” he told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“We need more people like that in parliament.”
