Australians will spend up to an extra $12 billion on petrol this year, as global sanctions on Russia cause a surge in oil prices around the world.

Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association’s CEO Mark McKenzie says this is the time to be using petrol price apps.

“To be keeping an eye on fuel and if you see a 20-25 per cent discount on what other service stations are charging, then the time to get in is now before their increase starts to flow through too,” Mr McKenzie told Sky News Australia.
