The future of one of the biggest sports clubs in the world is currently in doubt.

The UK government has placed sanctions on the of Chelsea Football Club’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich - due to his alleged connection to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The move limits ticket, merchandise and player sales and may prevent Chelsea from playing in overseas matches.

Mr Abramovich’s assets and the club have been frozen as a result of him being added to the list of Russian oligarchs sanctioned by the UK.
