over 2 years in news

Town criers across the UK took to the streets to proclaim the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne on Sunday, February 6. The town crier in Rye, in East Sussex, began his speech, as per tradition, by bellowing, “Oyez, oyez, oyez,” before proclaiming the significance of the date, and concluding with, “May God save the Queen.” St Mary’s Church Rye broadcast this video of the moment live to Facebook. Gun salutes were performed on Monday in London, Edinburgh, York, and at Northern Ireland’s Hillsborough Castle to celebrate the 95-year-old monarch’s Platinum Jubilee.
