Sky News host Chris Smith says Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is showing signs of “wilting under the heat of Omicron numbers” after she announced the start of the school year will likely be delayed by two weeks.

It comes after Queensland recorded 10,953 new cases from more than 36,000 tests.

“With COVID cases rising and doubts over how many kids will get access to a COVID vaccine, term one is under threat,” Mr Smith said.

“So much for not allowing our children to suffer from COVID disruption for a third consecutive year.”
