EU flag removed from Arc de Triomphe

The French government has removed a European Union flag from the Arc de Triomphe after it drew outrage from right wing politicians.
The flag was raised in place of the French tricolor on New Years Eve to mark the start of France's six-month presidency of the European Union.
Rivals of President Emmanuel Macron called the move an affront to France's heritage and also vowed to file a complaint with the state council.
The arch - along with other landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and the Pantheon – will still be illuminated with blue lights this week.
