Israel is set to become the first country in the world to offer a fourth dose of a COVID-19 vaccine due to concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant.

The extra dose will be offered to those over 60, anyone with a compromised immune system and health workers.

A health ministry panel recommended those who are eligible receive the shot at least four months after receiving their third.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the fourth shot will help the nation overcome the Omicron wave which is spreading across the world.
