Munster register 22 new players ahead of Champions Cup opener

over 3 years in The Irish Times

Munster have announced 22 players that have been nominated to be registered for the province’s Champions Cup squad.
The group of players is made up of members of the academy, the National Talent Squad and the Provincial Talent Squad. All involved are under the age of 21.
Tony Butler, Patrick Campbell and Edwin Edogbo are among those registered and are all part of Munster’s academy. Edogbo is currently injured.
The majority of the 22 new names have featured during this season’s AIL. 15 of the group played for a Munster Development XV against Ulster and Leinster earlier this year.
The announcement comes with the majority of the squad in isolation after returning from South Africa. Isolation was made mandatory by the Government after the detection of the Omicron variant in that country.
Last week EPCR confirmed that they were extending the deadline for player registration, a move that made it easier for sides such as Munster, Cardiff and Scarlets to fulfil their fixtures this weekend. Scarlets announced earlier on Tuesday that they would be forfeiting their clash against the Bristol Bears.
