Travis Scott sued over Astroworld deaths

Families of those killed at the Astroworld festival in Texas are suing rapper Travis Scott.

Lawyers claim Mr Scott and concert organisers did not do enough to prevent the problems which led to eight deaths.

Mr Scott headlined the event with a 75-minute set, and 50,000 people packed in to watch the performance.

Festivalgoers described the moments before the fatal crowd surge, which left dozens injured, claiming there was no way to escape the crowd or move against it.

Officials say Mr Scott continued to play for approximately half an hour after the concert was declared a mass casualty event and are investigating what he knew and when.

Mr Scott claimed he stopped his show “any time he realised there was a problem”.

In a statement, organiser Live Nation said they were “heartbroken” over the tragedy and were working with local authorities.

A lawsuit has now been filed against the rapper, the organisers, and others, with the suit claiming profits were elevated over safety.
