Passenger safety on trains

almost 4 years in The Irish Times

Sir, – So Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan believes a dedicated police force is not needed on public transport and that current Garda measures are sufficient (News, October 29th).
In that case, why is there so much anti-social behaviour on public transport? Exactly when did Mr Ryan last travel by bus, tram or Dart? I held an annual Dart pass before Covid struck and have been threatened several times while travelling.
There will be no “green” shift to public transport under present conditions.
