PM could ‘surrender his most important policy difference’ from Labor

Prime Minister Scott Morrison might be about to “surrender his most important policy difference from Labor” just a few months out from a federal election, says Sky News host Chris Kenny.

It comes as the Morrison government is facing increased pressure to sign up to a net-zero by 2050 target ahead of the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

“More on the inevitable folly of net-zero by 2050, yes it is inevitable because, well, because of politics,” Mr Kenny said.

“It is a folly because they are all signing up to this meaningless target, 30 years away, to demonstrate their environmental awareness and to ensure they are not attacked by political opponents, unions, activists and advertisers.

“But they do not put forward practical or feasible policies to deliver the targets, to get to net-zero, they just pretend, offering platitudes about renewables, storage and hydrogen.

“They do not tell us how much any of this will cost because they have no idea.”
