Phased return to workplaces from tomorrow as Covid restrictions eased

A phased return to workplaces is to begin from Monday and indoor group activities can resume under certain circumstances as remaining Covid-19 restrictions continue to be eased.
Organised indoor group activities, such as bingo and dance classes, will be allowed take place with up to 100 people where all patrons are fully vaccinated or recovered from the virus in the previous six months.
Restrictions on outdoor group activities for participants will also be removed, though limits on spectators at sports and arts events remain in place.
Brian MacCraith, chair of the high level task force on Covid-19 vaccination, said on Sunday that 90 per cent of those aged 16 and over are now fully vaccinated.
Ninety-three per cent of those aged 18 and over have received at least one dose.
The country is on course to lift the majority of remaining restrictions from October 22nd. This includes lifting requirements to social distance and wear face masks, restrictions on religious or civil ceremonies, limits on numbers at indoor and outdoor events and activities and private homes/gardens.
Nightclubs are also set to reopen and the requirement to have a Covid certificate to access or engage in activities and events will be lifted (with the exception of international travel).
The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) will be scaled back from October 22nd.
A further 1,456 cases of Covid-19 were reported in the State on Saturday. There were 263 people in hospital with the virus on Saturday night, with 64 of those in intensive care (ICU).
Cork University Hospital had the highest number of Covid-19 patients at 24, followed by Letterkenny University Hospital (20) and the Mater Hospital in north Dublin (20).
