Former Labor advisor Darrin Barnett says the ALP will "hamper its chances" of winning needed seats if it goes to the federal election on climate.
"The suite of policies they took to the most recent federal election didn't work," he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
"So they're going to have to come up with something that can work."
